Free Support to Establish Your DFWP Program

Drug use affects every type of business, no matter how large or small.  It respects no geographic, ethnic, economic, or social boundaries.  It strains our economy and endangers the future of young people.

What’s the good news for the small business owner?  Not only can you implement a drug-free workplace program with ease, but you can do so for FREE!  Through a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration, River Region Human Services is able to offer small businesses the following services free for 1 year:

·         Free Drug and Alcohol testing services

·         Free Policy Development

·         Free Employee and Supervisor Education

·         Free Random Drug Testing Management

·         Employee Assistance Program Consultation

·         Department of Transportation Compliance

To qualify for this grant you must be:

  • Organized for profit
  • Have a business in the U.S.
  • Operate primarily within the U.S. or make a significant contribution to the U.S. economy through payment of taxes or use of American products, materials or labor
  • Independently owned and operated
  • Not dominant in your field on a national basis
  • The business may be a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or any other legal form.

Establishing a drug free workplace communicates to employees that you value their health and safety and are committed to providing them with a positive work environment.  Employees who are drug free are more productive, have better morale, and enhance a company’s competitive position in the marketplace.  Benefits of a drug free workplace include:

·         A 5% savings on workers’ compensation insurance

·         Reduced turnover, tardiness and absenteeism

·         Increased productivity and profits

·         Safer working environments

·         Improved employee morale

·         Reduced health insurance costs.

A comprehensive drug-free workplace program generally includes five elements: a policy, supervisor training, employee education, employee assistance and drug testing. Although employers may choose not to include all five components, it is recommended that all be explored. Research shows that more components may lead to a more effective program.

You don’t have to be a small business owner to start a Drug Free Workplace program with River Region.  Our program offers competitive rates on several types of drug collections, as well as breath alcohol screenings and policy development.  Already have an established Drug Free Workplace program?  River Region can assist you with your ongoing needs and we work corroboratively with your laboratory to provide convenient collection facilities.

The first step towards a drug free workplace is a visit from one of our experts.  All we need is 30 minutes of your time to evaluate what you require in your company policy.  We then develop your policy ensuring that it not only fits the needs of your company, but works well within in the culture of your organization.  Our program design ensures compliance with both state and federal workplace regulations.
